Certified Pulse Light Hair Removal Professional (CPLHRP)


The Certified Pulsed Light Hair Removal Professional (CPLHRP) certification exam is for anyone who practices pulsed light hair removal, including physicians, nurses, medical estheticians, electrologists and physician assistants. To sit for the CPLHRP exam, one must currently practice pulsed light hair removal. It is highly recommended that appropriate courses be completed prior to sitting for this exam. Experience in or knowledge of other hair removal modalities is beneficial.

The CPLHRP was first administered in 2008 and was written by physicians, nurses and electrologists who are experts in this field. The 100-question exam consists of a wide range of pulsed light-related topics such as treatment techniques, patient assessment and patient follow-up. The CPLHRP is valid for five years. After that time, one must either retake the exam or complete 75 hours of SCMHR-approved continuing education.
